North York and quaint surprises!

This weekend we had a few things we had to do in Toronto Ontario, North York to be specific.
After a long 4hr drive and reaching our destination We couldn't get out of the truck fast enough and stretch our legs. How ironic that right beside the parking lot was a walking trail! It was like as if it was a sign. The name of the trail was the Betty Sutherland Trail. Off we started down the trail. It was a paved trail which was perfect to stay clean for our appointment. What a little gem this was. Right in the middle of a heavily populated area with high rises and condo's surrounding us. This trail follows along the Don Mills River! This river was not huge or deep but beautiful all the same. Untouched by mankind. There were spots where the river was calm and other spots where there was small rapids with the rushing water. Lots of tall trees and birds to be seen, we even managed to capture a picture of a grey crane that had just landed in front of us. Not long after walking the trail you would easily forget that you were in the middle of a busy city. @babyboomerstravels

We ended up walking the trail for a 1.5 hour round trip. There was still more trail to go but we had to return for our appointment. Are there small trails like this local to you? If so take advantage of it. It is a great way to get out enjoy nature and clear your head. Too busy with the kids you say. How about after you have dropped them off at school or before they get up. Take time for yourself in these simple treasures you wont regret it!

Later that day we went and checked in to our hotel. If you haven't used Expedia yet fear not and give it a try. We searched the internet on our phones and found Expedia, entered in our location and it listed all the local hotels nearby. The hotel we chose was the Courtyard by Marriott. Regular price was $220 a night and through Expedia cost us $139 for the night who doesn't love the savings right?
This was the first time using Expedia and it was super fast and easy. We drove to the hotel and got an early book in yeah!!! But this time we just wanted to relax for a bit and decide where to go for supper. So we chose a British pub called the Owl which was only a five min walk from the hotel bonus!!! This was a typical pub with a great atmosphere. They have beer flight sample which we definitely had to try! Tom picked two and I picked two. Our favourite was the Belgium Moon. This is a great way to try different types of beer without wasting a drink if you do not like it. We had a large nacho plate thats was huge and a side order of dry rubbed ribs. The owner came with our order and introduced himself. He said he does this to all his new customers. Hard to find that kind of service in a large city. He has been there for 20 something years quite a feat but we can see why. For desert we split a slice of Creme Brûlée Cream Cheese. Boy was it good!! Both my husband and I have just lost 50+ pounds each so sharing was a way of having a small treat but not over consuming. After that we went for a walk around the area then to bed. I know this weekend was not too exciting to read about but it sure was relaxing and slow paced. Just what we were looking for!!!

As you can see I couldn't get a picture fast enough!!
